Festival of Lights fans kept in the dark over summer will be in a winter wonderland in July.
The New Plymouth District Council has announced a TSB Festival of Lights Winter Pop-Up will be held between June 23-26 to coincide with the start of the Māori New Year.
The free council-run festival will feature four evenings of lights around the Huatoki Plaza through to the Coastal Walkway in central New Plymouth, accompanied by live performances, kai and whānau-friendly entertainment, a NPDC statement said.
The scheduling of the mini-festival follows the cancellation last year of the annual Festival of Lights at Pukekura Park because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
